I, the photographer behind Sophia’s Studio started out in a small basement darkroom making magic the old-fashioned way. Always fascinated by the creative process I bought my first roll of black and white film, paper processing chemicals and enlarger to feed the passion that stirred within. After gathering up the best compositions, I would then make the plight upstairs to the art studio and selectively hand color each image individually. This gave them a unique, one of a kind look, rarely duplicated. In my minds eye this whole process left a timeless Impression... so this is what I called it.
As time and technology evolved, tools of the trade quickly changed media format. Although I wanted to remain unique and maintain the timelessness in my images, I eventually gave in to the digital realm after being convinced I could still market my images with the same originality and creative touch.

A huge learning curve, a lot of experience behind several digital cameras and fifteen years has passed since I began. The magic is now created in a digital darkroom but the passion is stronger than ever. Presented to you on this website are some of the images that bring back a special time and place in each of the lives they have touched. Digital black and white images are still selectively hand colored along with the many new creative enhancing possibilities that are available today.
I no longer refer to the business as Timeless Impressions but the goal is still there. The desire to create, capture and share a world of images is within the reach of every one of us. It is up to us to seek out, embrace the innocence, and capture that moment in time that is gone before you realize how fleeting it can be. |
